With hindsight
In a democratic environment when it is time to win an election, either in the political or sporting arena, the parties involved are supposed to come up with actual policies programs.
Well according to what we have been witnessing recently in the Italian handball federation elections campaign, only one side,Montauti's "La Grande Famiglia dell'Handball" had promoted an actual elections program. What happened to the other candidate's program, the newly elected president Purrumuto instead?
As far as we know there was no election program which was released to the public.
My point would be: How on earth the incumbent federation administrators were voted in again without any actual program being promoted? Has Italian handball been successful in the last four years?Have we seen the sport getting more and more popular, attracting sponsorships and spectators? The answer is NO.
I believe that politics should not interfere in the administration of any sport, but what has been going on in the last fifteen years has been marred by a continous interference of political cliques in the management of handball.
How could we change that? We could change the present and future of handball by gathering together forces which are indeed truly committed to grow handball, setting up the bases for a strong alternative to the present administration.
My only worry would be: Can Italian handball wait for more four extra years?
